Credential Evaluation Services
What are transcript evaluations?
Transcript evaluations are an essential requirement for individuals who have obtained their bachelor’s degree from educational institutions outside of the United States or its territories. To ensure accurate recognition and equivalency of your academic achievements, it is necessary to undergo a thorough course-by-course evaluation of your official baccalaureate degree transcript.
By undergoing a transcript evaluation, you provide educational institutions, employers, and licensing boards with comprehensive insights into your educational background, enabling fair and informed decisions regarding admissions, employment, or professional certifications.
What is the purpose of a transcript evaluation?
Their purpose is to determine the equivalency of foreign degrees and academic achievements to the educational standards in the United States. These assessments help individuals, educational institutions, and employers make informed decisions regarding academic placements, employment, and professional licensure.
The goal of these services is to ensure that academic achievements earned outside of the United States are recognized and utilized fairly and equitably.
Who needs a transcript evaluation?
Transcript evaluations are necessary for any applicant that was educated outside of the U.S. or its territories. If you are seeking admission to a U.S. university or teacher preparation program, like Moreland University’s TEACH-NOW online teacher preparation program, or are seeking to obtain a teaching license in the U.S. you will need to have an official transcript evaluation.

How much does a transcript evaluation cost?
The cost of a transcript evaluation can vary depending on several factors, including the service provider, the level of evaluation required (such as course-by-course evaluation or a general overview), and any additional services requested. General prices can range anywhere from around $50 to $300 or more.
Moreland University collaborates with four NACES-approved credential evaluation organizations to assist applicants in reducing their fees for the evaluation of their credentials: Educational Credential Evaluators, International Education Evaluations, Spantran, and World Education Services.
It’s important to note that these figures are estimates and may differ based on the specific requirements of the evaluation and the provider you choose.
Moreland University requires a course-by-course evaluation, as it will be the most transferable to other programs and licensing applications.
What kind of transcript evaluation is right for you?
The exact type of transcript evaluation that you need is dependent on the program you are applying to and your long term goals. However, a course-by-course evaluation is the most versatile and will satisfy the requirements for all programs and teacher licensing in your future. Moreland University requires a course-by-course evaluation for our TEACH-NOW online teacher preparation program and our master’s in education programs.
You will need to have your official baccalaureate degree transcript from non‐U.S. institutions evaluated for educational equivalence by a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) member agency.
NACES – Best Foreign Degree Evaluation in the U.S.
NACES evaluations are an important step for individuals seeking to have their foreign academic credentials recognized and utilized in the United States.
All applicants/candidates to Moreland University who have bachelor’s degrees from outside of the U.S. will need to complete a transcript evaluation through a NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) member organization.
Any NACES member organization is acceptable, but Moreland University has partnered with four organizations to streamline this process.
