Our Master’s in Education Degree Programs, offered in six areas of specialization, include the TEACH-NOW Teacher Preparation Certificate coursework. The TEACH-NOW® Teacher Preparation Certificate Program provides the graduate level coursework required for an alternative teaching certification. If you hold a Bachelor’s degree in a field other than education and would like to pursue a teaching certification, completing a preparation program is one requirement you will need to fulfill. After successfully completing the TEACH-NOW program, you will need to meet the additional requirements in the state where you are applying for certification, which may include additional exams. You’ll need a Bachelor’s degree with a 3.0 GPA or its equivalent. Admissions requirements include:

• Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accreditated institution.
• Transcript evaluation if your Bachelor’s degree is from an institution outside of the U.S.
• 3.0 GPA or higher, or equivalent experience
• English language proficiency
• Writing sample
• Additional requirements may apply depending on your area of certification

Many candidates work full-time while they complete a master’s program at Moreland University. The workload varies, but averages out to approximately 15 hours a week.

If you are in a Master’s in Education Degree Program, your program will also require 12 weeks of practice teaching in a classroom with a supervising mentor teacher. For candidates already in the classroom, this requirement can typically be met through their current teaching assignment.
