Massachusetts requires educators to have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree. That degree does not necessarily have to be in education.

You'll take the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) and earn the state’s Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement (SEI).

Teacher Education Requirements
If your bachelor’s degree is in something other than education, you can earn your license through an alternative Educator Preparation Program.
