(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Moreland University is welcoming a new president.

Robert Abraham took the lead role at Moreland at the end of November. He brings extensive experience across education and edtech, telecommunications, venture capital, and manufacturing. As a leader in teacher education, Abraham prioritizes learner-centric programs, mission-aligned partnerships, and a culture of innovation and inclusivity.

“I believe in the power of education to change lives and am eager to help facilitate the next chapter of growth for teachers and schools around the globe,” he said. “Schools everywhere are facing serious challenges with teacher shortages and teacher turnover, but I’m thrilled to be part of the solution with Moreland.”

Moreland University works with educators, school districts, and education organizations to help teachers earn professional certifications and master’s degrees through accelerated online programs. To date, Moreland has served more than 10,000 teacher candidates in 165 different countries.

Abraham holds an M.B.A. from Duke University and a B.S. in industrial engineering from Pennsylvania State University. He has been with Colibri Group, the parent company of Moreland, since January 2024, where he serves as the President of Teacher Education. He assumed the university position following the transition of former Moreland President Susanne H. Thompson, Ed.D., who led the university from November 2021 through November 2025.

Abraham will also lead Moreland’s Advisory Board, maintaining and advancing a network of trusted thought-partners to bolster university growth and innovation while ensuring high-quality programming.

“There is no other university doing what Moreland is doing in the teacher-education space. I truly believe it’s one-of-a-kind, and a huge part of that is thanks to Dr. Thompson’s leadership, experience, and passion,” Abraham said. “We look forward to building on that momentum and continuing to support candidates, teachers, and educational organizations around the world.”
