Family Engagement for Struggling Readers

Dr. Beth Dewhurst enjoys supporting and learning from TEACH-NOW candidates, especially during clinical practice. She is a literacy subject-matter expert and writer with EVERFI. Dr. Dewhurst served Washington, D.C. learners and families for over 20 years as a reading-intervention educator. In 2017, she was named Teacher of the Year. She has also directed educational nonprofit services. In May 2022, she earned her Ed.D. with a technology specialization and is excited to share her research with educators enrolled in “Learning Recovery for the Humanities, Languages, & Art.”
