Our goal at Moreland University is to equip and empower educators.

We help teachers earn professional certifications and master’s degrees.

We give school leaders ideas and tools for better professional development, school culture, and student results.

As we wrap up the year, here are 5 of our favorite school-leader resources from 2024. We hope you find them useful and inspiring as we launch into 2025.

1. An Infographic for Recognizing & Rewarding Teachers

Teachers have some of the most challenging jobs in the world. If you’re an educator, you’re also a social worker, a therapist, a cheerleader, a disciplinarian, and more.

Teachers deserve our gratitude. Here are 7 ways to show it.

2. Teacher Recruitment & Retention Webinar

We hosted a webinar in late October on teacher recruitment and retention. It was a panel discussion on how to hire quality teachers, invest in the right professional development, and increase teacher job satisfaction.

Attendees left with practical ideas to better support the teachers in their schools.

3. Tips for Career Growth

Moreland University President Susanne H. Thompson, Ed.D., wrote a blog post with 4 tips to grow your career — and your salary — in education.

From Dr. Thompson: “A calling to education doesn’t have to mean a calling to barely getting by. It isn’t ‘work in education’ or ‘make a reasonable living.’ You can do both.”

This is a great resource for any educator, from the first-year teacher all the way to the superintendent of schools.

4. Reminders of Our ‘Why’

For anyone who’s feeling down about education — the long hours, the low pay, the never-ending to-do lists — Moreland grad and D.C. Teacher of the Year Jazzmyne Townsend’s story is a reminder of the beauty and joy in this field.

Townsend did not set out to become a teacher. But she’s forever grateful she found her calling in the classroom.
